If you’ve ever taken a walk along a creek
in Upstate New York, there’s a good chance you’ve seen a woman fumbling around with a hands full of rocks and pockets full of markers . . .
That’s me! I’m JuJu!
My inspiration comes from those exact creeks.
As well as the forests,
the mountains,
the lakes,
the lands…
The Earth is very important to me.
Being out in nature is the place I feel safest.
I feel a constant disconnect with the world around me - I don’t know how to use my phone, I’m not good at buying groceries, I feel awkward doing modern day society things like going to the bank. . .
But when I’m in my garden, when I’m smashing dirt into the pores of my fingers -
that is where I feel I belong.
My art is a tribute to that feeling.
It is my goal to not only share the beauty of the world, but sustain it, too.
My current practice is exploring the use of natural elements in my art.
The themes of my art revolve around connection -
Where do I belong on this Earth?
How do I belong on this Earth?
